| The late Enid Hohn, former director of Child Nutrition Services at Vista Unified School District in San Diego, California, had come up with a unique program called "Water - A Value-Added Meal Choice." Hohn had made water a choice with all reimbursable meals under the National School Lunch Program. Remember water is a choice - not a meal component. |
| She had also purchased vending machines that offer healthier options. In lieu of sodas, students can choose from milk, water, juice, and sports drinks. Bottled water has proven to be more popular than previous soda sales - lending credence to the idea that children will make healthier decisions if given the option. |
| Enid Hohn was a champion for healthier school meals, and believes water is a great choice for the student body. Watch her discuss her school’s program here and be inspired by her commitment to student health. |
